Unzipped

I realize I’m about a decade late in seeing this and in turn saying the following but I’m going there anyways: How awesome is the Isaac Mizrahi documentary Unzipped?! If for some reason there are still a few of you fashiony folk out there who have not seen this truly terrific documentary (I may have been the lone outsider) please march down to the nearest Virgin Mega Store and purchase a copy for yourself. There’s nothing like curling up on a Saturday night with a bottle of wine and a handful of your girlfriends gathering around the flat screen (or in my case desktop) to lap up behind the scenes footage of making a runway collection. The film takes you through the creation of the clothes step by step from the inspiration, concepts, development, and resources to the final product and on to the runway. Fashion aside, he’s such an entertaining character to watch and so genuine. And his mother! What a riot! It also features Naomi, Linda, Christy, Cindy, and Kate strutting their stuff during the hay day of the 90’s supermodel. Though I’m sure this brief synopsis was unnecessary because you’ve all seen it a dozen times, maybe I’ve inspired you to see it again.
